Hi little community! I’ve been so busy but wanted to write to you all at the beginning of the year, we’re almost in February, I don’t even know how January passed so quickly!? I hope you’re doing well and that 2024 began smoothly and with excitement to get things done.
For those who follow me in Instagram have already notice that I am doing the #jehanegoldenthread challenge launch by
where a new brief is given each week, and the aim is to carry a thread on from the work you did the previous week. What I love about this challenge is that to accomplish it we have to delve deeper into the topics and in this way we learn so much. The first main theme is Tokyo Story, there will be four main themes throughout the year. I’ve been learning about Japanese traditions, ancient patterns used in craftsmanship and the importance of certain animals and flowers and their meaning and symbolism. The Japanese culture is very rich and really inspiring. Some of you already know me, I like to challenge myself doing things that brings me excitement, that allows me to experiment new approaches, even if sometimes the result isn’t, for me, the best, I believe that way i can evolve.I’ve been contacted by “Canvas Rebel” an online magazine for an interview. In this interview I talk about my art journey, the risk i’ve taken, what i consider to be the most rewarding aspect of being a creative and what is my mission and my goals.
You can read the all interview here
I also received a commission work of a large painting that I am working behind the scenes. I am exciting and nervous at the same time, because I want very badly that the person loves the painting when it arrives to the US. It something so personal that I am guiding the client throughout every stage.
I have been working in opening my online store, but I found out that is very difficult to recreate in prints the watercolor paintings. The all process is very complicated. You see watercolor lives on many layers of color and how it expands trough the paper, recreating this it’s a long process of trial and error. I wanted to find the perfect company partner that assures me that the prints are made in giclée printing, which means a reproduction with guaranteed quality, permanence and fidelity to the original. At this stage we are working and making tests to ensure it is the most faithful to the original, but soon it will be live!
I don’t have “plans” for 2024, besides working on my online store, all I want is to keep improving my skills, grow up as an artist and loving every minute of this creative life! Maybe the only thing I definitely plan is to read more!
The Book “Drawing for illustration “, from the illustrator Martin Salisbury, explores the drawing within the illustration. I am sure many of you are familiar with this book, but i am reading it and i thought i should share with you. If you are interested in illustration it is a ‘must read’ , but even if your not into illustration i think it’s a good book to read because places special emphasis on drawing and treat it as a fundamental skill. Begins by explaining the fundamentals of this discipline before outlining the basic principles of line, tone, composition and color, using the analysis of important illustrators past and present works.
planting the seeds in my little garden. The previous harvest was a failure as it rained for many weeks! Still figuring out what I am going to plant, lettuces for sure, maybe I will try broccoli and some strawberries!
I hope you all stay well and till next time! If you want to comment and chat a little i would be delighted to heard what you’ve been up to!
